Huawei partnered with Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) for the recently concluded Tour of Luzon: The Great Revival, an eight-day cycling event that spanned over 1,074 kilometers across Northern and Central Luzon. The race ran from April 23 to May 1, starting in Paoay and ending in Baguio City.

The MPT DriveHub Cycling Team emerged as the overall champion, taking home the Perpetual Trophy and a PHP 1 million cash prize.

The event featured 17 teams, including four international entries, and aimed to revive one of Asia’s longest-running cycling events.

Mervin Corpuz of the MPT DriveHub team expressed gratitude for the team effort that led to their win. Other notable awards included:

  • Individual Champion: Dae Yeong Joo (Gapyeong Cycling Team)
  • Eagle of the Mountain: Joshua Pascual (Excellent Noodles Cycling Team)
  • Best Young Rider: James Escumbien (Go for Gold)
  • Sprint King: Mervin Corpuz (MPT DriveHub)
  • Most Combative Rider: Muhammad Zahin Wahihi (Malaysia Pro Cycling)

Throughout the race, the MPT DriveHub team used the Huawei WATCH GT 5 Series, which provided real-time data on heart rate, cadence, calories, and speed—key factors in managing performance across stages.

With GPS tracking, fitness tracking via the TruSense System, and a long-lasting battery (up to 14 days), the smartwatch supported the team throughout the multi-day race.

Huawei’s involvement in the Tour of Luzon aligns with its broader goal of promoting health and wellness through technology. The company plans to continue supporting similar initiatives across the Philippines.
